Really odd issue with computer

My computer was working last night, I turned it off and disconected. This afternoon, I tried to turn it on and it kept rebooting. It started with fans and everything for 2-3 seconds, stopped and restarted.

I unplugged all the cables and had the same issue. I took off the CMOS battery for around 30 sec and worked fine after putting it back. Why is it working now?

I think the specs are irrelevant, but if they're required here they are:

Intel 2600k No overclocked
Gigabyte sniper m3
16 GB RAM
2 Tb hard drive
240 SSD
Cooler Marter Liquid cooling
500W cheap PSU

You mentioned a cheap PSU, never ever go cheap on a PSU no matter what the price is. If the PSU is faulty and has no warranty, you are risking damage to your other components and if that goes, troubleshooting can be another story. Not to mention having your computer act out at completely random intervals. What I would do is a rough baseline test of leaving your computer on when it's working overnight. If it happens again, you might want to return that old psu back or invest in a very reliable one with good standard certification, Good luck!

I very much appreciate your response. I'm actually planning to change it, so thanks for the upvote on that thought. So you think it was because of the PSU? Why would removing the battery help?

Have you overclocked any component?

1,Overclocking the cpu too much, like if your cpu has a base frequency of 2.4ghz and you oc it to 5ghz,the pc will freeze, and when you boot it back up,it will do this kinda shit.If you remove the CMOS battery,it will set the cpu voltage and frequency back to normal.I dont know if this works with gpus
2.Do not ever overclock with a cheap PSU!!NEVER!!!!!They might be so bad and have no protection, once they explode they take your whole system with them.I recommend you buy a PSU at least 500W from seasonnic or evga

It's an used built I bought. You were right, I saw it has a clock base of 3.4 and was starting at 3.8. It's not much but I turned it off. Let's see if this issue happens later. I do agree that you should not OC on a bad PSU but I just got this equipment.

It seemed that changing the PSU worked out well.
