I have a https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c01643545 and i want to add these parts(New case) https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/dbvDyf

is the psu overkill? I might get ryzen 3 when it comes out. The reason why i am getting a HDD is b/c it the original died in late 2016. I have made a retarded choice to get laptop for school.... instead of rebuilding the PC so im stuck with this crappy Pentium laptop

Anyways would the gold efficient benefit me at all compared to a 80+ bronze?

Solution

Ah, yes, that is a wonderful one. I am glad to found it, and sorry for not suggesting it.
Ideally the old PSU will work, but it is not a bad idea to get a new one, specially a good one like that which will last for a good long time. 80+ bronze is not going to cost much more power wise over the life of the system, but it is often the case that bronze systems use older tech, or less efficient platforms, which sometimes are not as good as the gold and platinum ones.

So in some cases the gold rating can imply a better PSU, (just remember that it can imply, not does imply)

This would be the bronze that i get

if you want the most power savings then get the gold rated one, although at 450W it will not be saving much. A good power supply will often last several systems, and will provide well regulated voltages and currents which will help with the life of the components, the B1 uses an inferior platform with more ripple and lower tolerances, the B2 is better. the BQ is not
