System crash while gaming

I have had my build up and running for a while now, with only a few little problems here and there.

But today I had been playing Overwatch, and all of a sudden my game froze. It then went black but the system was lit up and still on. I did control + alt + delete and it brought up the options so I did task manager. But it went to black after that. After trying a few times and randomly pressing escape I got the to my desktop, where I saw what would have been the Overwatch logo on my task bar as a red x, but I didn't get a chance to see what it said as the black screen came back.

I restarted and it seemed to play a few games fine albeit a slightly higher than normal GPU temp of 83 degrees Celsius on the 980ti Strix.

The CPU seemed a little high after the restart at 50 degrees Celsius but that could have been residual heat as it had only had 5 minutes or so to cool, I normally get around 38 degrees Celsius just loading a few programs such as AMD master.

But after about 10 minutes I went in to the bios and noticed my motherboard was at 53 degrees Celsius, higher than I would have expected.

I assume one of these higher temps may have caused an issue, but I am not sure why as I have had no issues before and have been running the game for 85 hours in total problem free (other than the GPU running over 80 every now and again)

System:
Ryzen 1600 (1.215v, 3.4GHz across all 6 cores) stock cooler
980ti Strix
B350 Tomahawk
Evga Supernova G3 750w
P400s Tempered glass with two intake 120mm and two exhaust 120mm.

Solution
It leaves a lot to try. Run memtest, voltage monitoring, check each RAM stick one at a time in the 1st RAM slot indicated on your MB.check for HD failure or even trying your GPU and PSU in another PC. Clear CMOS. Reseating your components and checking for loose connections

I'm sure you may have tried this but have you cleaned out the dust from your GPU along with your case etc? Going into bios to check temps and seeing temps go up is normal. Most CPU and gpu do have thermal thresholds. So it going black or the like can happen to prevent damage. I would look to cleaning off both the CPU and GPU fans and possibly reapplying CPU paste. Also have you tried using ASUS GPU program to set a fan curve to avoid going above 80c?

There is not a whole lot of dust to clean out. What would be the best way to clean it off when needed? at the moment there is a very very small amount of surface dust on the back plate and none on the fans. So at the moment it doesn't look like it needs to be cleaned but when it does it would be good to know.

I have checked the GPU tweak software and it seems the GPU is auto set to a 83 degree temp which explains the temps I get as it auto overclocks with that headroom.

So my problem is likely not the GPU or the CPU as that is now sitting at about 39-45 degrees with light usage which is what I would expect.

What could that leave?
