Yes i have a DC7800 cmt with 8gb ram intel core 2 quad 2.5gnhz and i have a 600w power supply (not in the computer) and was wondering if i could put said power supply and graphics card in the computer and be able to use it?

Solution

sure, as long as the psu has the proper pcie cables

and you can physically fit the card into the case

you might need to update the motherboard bios though

some pre-builts have wacky motherboard power connectors that are not standard 24-pin though so a normal psu will not work without an adapter

check before you do anything

Step one: remove the power supply in the computer and compare it to the 600W. Same size and design? If so, great. Next, look at the connectors, does the 600W have the same kind of connectors? If so, great.

The other issue is will the videocard physically fit. If you have a tower case this is good, it'll probably fit. You can look inside the case and see what kind of room you have. It'll take up two slots, and you need to make sure nothing is blocking the end of where it will go, so that a long card won't fit.
