Rotten potato pc specs:
Pentium g2020
2gb ddr3 ram
H61M-S1 mobo
(No gpu , i'll buy)
Win 10 pro

What should i buy for now the gpu (rx 460 ) or 8gb of ram? How much fps will get added if i add 8gb ram? What should i add for now ,the gpu or the ram for some improved gaming performance....i can insert only one for now- gpu or ram. What to buy?

2GB ram very low, but are you using a 64 bit OS?
If yes, then it make sense to add ram, if not, you will also need to change your 32 bit OS for a 64 bit OS.
(yes, I checked, Microsoft is still making them in 32 bit for some reason)

Also, this motherboard is limited to 2 ram slots, I would buy (1) 8 GB of ram, take one out and replaced it with this. (8GB + 2GB = 10GB) yes it will work plus you can upgrade to 16 GB if you want without loosing money. (just getting another 1 8GB ram = 16GB)

I noticed that the GPU you selected is 128 bit, I would wait and save to get a 256 bit GPU with at least 2GB video ram (minimum).

It would also help if you mentioned the games that you are most likely to play. This way people that know this games...

You need to upgrade the CPU first. Forget the ram or gpu.
Get a core i5-2400 or something higher. Will fit in your socket.

Then make ram 8gb and add a new gpu later.

If you add a gpu now you won't get expected performance as the cpu is very weak (2nd gen dual core cpu) and there'll be a serious bottleneck.
Even older gpus like the gtx750 won't be used to full power with that cpu, let alone the rx460 you're considering.
