Before i start, i know this has been asked HUNDREDS of times, but i couldn't really find what i was looking for.
And this is my first thread so be gentle xDDD

I borrowed the R9 280x from a friend because his PSU is too weak for the card, and because my graphics card has died. He got it for his birthday brand new. When he installs the card in his PC, it wont even boot. In my PC,on the other hand, CPU fan spins up, green light on MB is on, i can hear the HDD r/w head move, Graphics Card fans spin up, but the screen stays black. It doesnt even show the BIOS.

What i tried:
-Tried with one stick of RAM at a time
-Reseated Graphics Card
-Tried another Graphics Card to make sure the PCIe slot is OK
-CMOS Reset
-Disabled integrated graphics
-Removed all previous drivers with DDU (beforer new card installation)
-Double checked all cable connections to the MB and Graphics Crad
-Entered BIOS and set Primary Display Adapter to GFX0 (which is PCIe slot)

My Specs:
MB: ASUS M5A78 LM LX
CPU: AMD FX 6300 @ 4.0 Ghz
PSU: Chieftec A-80 650W 80 plus Bronze
GPU: XFX Radeon R9 280x Double Dissipation
RAM: 8GB (2 x 4GB) Kingston HyperX Fury Blu 1600Mhz DDR3
HDD: WD 1TB 7200RPM
Caseless Rig

BTW i managed to boot into Windows when connected to the integrated graphics WHILE the R9 280x was in the PCIe slot. Windows automatically started installing drivers for it, but it detected it as a High Definition Audio Device. After going into Device Manager, under Display Adapters i saw the Integrated Graphics, and Standard VGA Graphics adpater with the yellow exclamation mark next to it. It says "This device cannot start (Code 10)

Any help, or advice would be appreciated :)

Solution
If the 280x wont post and the 7970/470 will, its unlikely a UEFI or compatibility issue. If you're confident the same cables and adapters work on the 7970, id guess there is something wrong with the card. Have you made a ticket at xfxsupport.com?

Hello

All connectors are plugged in
Im using one Molex to 6pin adapter, because my PSU has two 8pin connectors
Tried resetting the CMOS
Tried XFX Radeon RX 470 8GB, and Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Boost Edition, they work perfectly

I dont know if the graphics card has ever worked, because, its my friends card, and i borrowed it because his PSU is too weak for it, and his PC wont even boot because of it. He got it brand new for his birthday.

Its probably something wrong with the card. I've just noticed that even one fan isn't working correctly. After some time it started making a buzzing/scarping noise. The good thing is he has a 2 year warranty from the shop it was bought from, so he can return it.

Thanks for taking interest in my problem XFX Support :)
