Can I add wattage to a power supply?

My Thermaltake TR2 430w is not cutting it, indicated by random shutdowns when gaming or playing 1080p video. I am no expert in power supplies, but can't you just add or replace the capacitors with better ones and get more wattage? Capacitors are cheap, and I am working on a sub-$10 budget here so cannot get a replacement supply. Sorry if I sound kinda dumb here, but I really have no idea what I'm doing with power supplies.

Solution
No. If you need more watts replace the unit; opening a PSU can be dangerous due to the charge stored even after it's unplugged but swapping capacitors won't get you anywhere anyway.

No you cannot. Doesn't work like that.

"...but I really have no idea what I'm doing with power supplies"
And this actually answers your question.

Hahahhahaha sorry no unless you have an electronics degree ,the schematics and Wayyyyyy too much time on your hands and you would end up rebuilding the entire unit basically just using using the case .Or you could walk into the store and buy a new one ,plug it in and your in business

You might try restricting your clock speeds, especially of your video card. You'd be sacrificing a few FPS but that's better than random shutdowns, right?

Also, making sure your case & heatsinks are well-dusted might help just a little.
