Cpu/apu for 4k playback

I am looking for insight for playing 4k videos. For instance I have a digital copy of Elysium in 4k played in VLC or MPC-HC. I have a 4k TV and motherboard with a displayport for 60hz support.

I have an a8-7600 and it hits 100% cpu load during playback with minor stuttering, this is at 30hz

I am wondering if anyone has experience with the a10-7870k playing 4k video.

I have a 200w power supply with 1 ssd, ram, and cpu fan. Very basic. I could try clocking a bit but I doubt the psu will handle much.

I know this question has been asked 1948585827616164 times, but I'm hoping I can do this with just a processor change.

Does anyone have any advice or info?
Thanks

Hmm I will look into that. Don't know how to check usage on that but I'll figure it out. And I'm not sure of the driver version at the moment. Will have to check that too. Thanks for the leads

You are right. Amd system monitor shows 0% for the Radeon r7 onboard graphics when playing a video file. In the bios I have options for pci and onboard graphics for Northbridge settings. It has been on pci, I enabled onboard and rebooted. Gpu still shows 0%

How can I enable the gpu?

Now I feel like that was a dumb question. Downloaded AMD overdrive and my gpu and cpu are being maxed out.

Does anyone see this as normal for a processor like this? If so I'll upgrade

Temps were around 55-60. Clock was about 3.5 on each core and the bios says max processor speed is 4.7. But gpu was at around 700 but I was able to increase it to 1300 without much of a difference. I think I am going to play with a few settings and see what happens. Although I'm afraid I'll try to boot up and I'll get no signal and mess something up lol

Something isn't right. Max cpu turbo is 3.8ghz. You wouldn't be oced to 4.7 and be running slower as turbo gets turned off. Max gpu turbo is 720mhz. I doubt any gpu can oc almost double its speed. I'd check with gpuz and cpuz to see if overdrive is showing the correct speeds.

I was just saying the bios says max frequency is 4.7ghz. Not sure why but the most I have seen in overdrive is 3.6ghz. I played with a few settings and I was able to clock the igpu to 890ghz and allocated 2048mb shared memory. It is marginally better, but still hits 100% everywhere and stutters or has slight sync issues. All these numbers were from gpuz this time as well. Either way I am surprised to see this apu will have to be upgraded for smoother 4k

I agree. But I'm not sure what the issue may be. 200w should be enough power. Drivers were updated with amds software. Nothing else is running at the same time. Not sure what else to try
