I have an amd fx 6300 running 4.2ghz with an asus m5a78l plus usb 3 running a amd sapphire r7 240 4gb graphics card and 12gb of hyper fury x kingston 1333 ram and a audigy fx sound card.

I was looking to get a multi pcie board to run two or three cards but i dont think the chip is managing it cant play mafia 3 worth anything cant run any mordern game on 1080p but i dont know which to change can anyone help

Well first of all you are much much better off getting one card (in yoru case something like a RX 470 or a GTX 1050 ti). Then you are to try to run 2-3 weak 240s in crossfire configuration.

Secondly I agree wtih Herc in that if you are going to change CPU or Mobo you should change both.
The FX linup is using archeticture from 2012 and it is really showing its age. You will be much much better geting a pentium g4560 + b250 motherboard _ 8gb DDR4 memory then you will be with that fx-6300. No motherboard/cpu change while staying in the fx am3+ platform will make any significant enough of a different to justify the cost.
