I have tried to overclock my i7 4770k and could only get to 4.2Ghz while having the Vcore to Auto which I put to because it kept crashing at 1.25V at any multipliers higher then that.
I was using the link for the overclocking procedure- http://www.overclockers.com/3step-guide-to-overclock-intel-haswell/

I initially set it to 1.20V and 4.6Ghz to start and it got to the loading screen of windows and crashed. After that I set the Vcore to 1.25 and 4.3Ghz and it crashed using Prime95 after about 10 mins, it was only at 60degc also

My build is
Maximum VII Hero Mobo
I7 4770K @4.2Ghz
Strix GTX1080 ti
16GB Ram
Corsair H80i
1050W PSU

If this is the max ill get out of it thats ok but if I can get more I will. Does this overclocking procedure seem ok or should I be trying something else?

My mobo is an Asus Maximus VII Hero and the I7 4770K which is unlocked. I could just have gotten bad luck with the CPU maybe.

It's a Coolermaster SPH 1050W PSU.
