Hello all,

My buddy is contracted through Entergy for doing solar installs for large companies. He is certified to use his drone to record the facilities and get a good idea of the layout. Then the render the video and make plans and stuff and need a new PC.

He wants me to build it, here is what I have so far.

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($313.49 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI - B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($107.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($129.88 @ OutletPC)
Storage: PNY - CS1111 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($47.45 @ OutletPC)
Case: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400 TEMPERED GLASS ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($76.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Monitor: Asus - VS239H-P 23.0" 1920x1080 Monitor ($127.48 @ Jet)
Keyboard: Redragon - K551 Wired Gaming Keyboard ($43.99 @ Amazon)
Mouse: Redragon - Mammoth Wired Laser Mouse ($25.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1083.24

His budget is $1,400 but trying to be as efficient as possible here. He uses Photoshop, illustrator, and Final Cut Pro 10. Do I go AMD or Nvidia? What GPU do you guys suggest?

Solution
rendering and editing is mostly cpu oriented. so good choice going for 1700. regarding gpu, a GTX 1060 6gb will do. the cuda acceleration features is nice to have in these works.
