So I have no idea how to install windows on a m.2 ssd. The ssd does not even show up in my bios or as a drive to install to in windows. I even loaded my motherboard disk to see if there was an m.2 drive there but nothing. So can someone tell me how to get windows off my hdd to my m.2 without paying a program to do it

The m.2 is simply the interface.
There are both SATA and NVMe drives in the m.2 connection type.

Not all work with all motherboards.
What drive did you buy, and what motherboard do you have?

You're doing a clean OS install?
And this is the only drive connected right now?

Delete ALL partitions on that drive.
Let Windows format it and create what it needs.

I meant...describe in some detail.

If you have only the one drive connected, and if you've actually deleted whatever partitions are on it...you can't be seeing that message. Because there is no partition, GPT or otherwise.

This is why I said that the m.2 needs to be the only drive connected while you do this.
Apparently, the HDD is still connected. Correct?
