power button turns on pc but cant turn off ?

i replaced the psu in a old pc when i press power button the power led goes orange eveything starts working fans and all that but the led stays orange colour when it normally boots it should be white and when i press or hold it again to shut down it doesnt work im sure something is wrong but not really sure what is causing it

Ahh, as any beeps would help determine if a particular component isn't working. It may be worth doing a bit of trial and error by disconnecting different parts of the PC until the problem disappears.

If you've made sure that everything is disconnected, then yes. So, your best bet is to either buy a new motherboard, or if it's a "budget" PC, replace the PC.

its a really old pc that psu was exploded last year i was lazy to fix it i bought a new psu for my main pc so i decided to fix this 1 as challenge would system fans work if motherboard is dead ?
