Hi guys,

I shall post my computer setup from my profile below:

Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
Gigabyte X58-USB3
Core i7 950 @ 3.50 GHz
Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 960
HyperX Genesis 8GB
500 GB WD HDD
128 GB Intel SSD
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Windows 10 64-bit

Would you say it's time for an upgrade?

Thanks!

William

it's a nice system, though you can build one yourself for less. :)

You don't need that motherboard unless you go for K processors which allows overclocking, although you can take it and if you ever feel like upgrading to an i7 7700k for example you can and even overclock it than. :)

Hi, I'm still using a similar, but probably slightly older setup to you. As hdgaming rightly says, its up to you based on the games or programs you use. I have gone as far as i can with upgrading my system now, but still loving the old girl. And will still keep up a steady 70ish FPS @ 1080P.

Regards,
K.

It's adequate but sometimes the performance can drop slightly when multitasking, sometimes programs become a little laggy. I'm pretty sure that's down to the processor. The reason of potentially upgrading is due to future proofing and I don't think my system is future proofed for much longer.

Hi guys! I hope you're all well! So, just took the plunge and bought a new system from PC Specialist. Here's a screenshot of the specs: https://i.gyazo.com/07f0a652388599c2b9d6e6833ede4214.png

I am really impressed with the new system, except for the boot up times, which IMO are poor. As you can see, I chose a SSHD, so slower boot up times than a SSD, are to be expected. However, I am getting circa 40 second boot up and nearly 2 minute restart times, which seem a bit slow to me. I've tried tweaking the BIOS/Windows, but nothing that I changed sped up the boot process (I've reverted back to optimised defaults on the BIOS now).

It seems to me that the time between the power button and the motherboard initialising (normally around 15 seconds) is what's causing the slow boot up/restart times.

I've spoken to PC Specialist, but their support wasn't great, IMO.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

William
