Below are the descriptions and links to parts for an older computer build that I have.

My question relates to the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro fan direction in my build. Detail below the parts and links.

I have the Asus M4N72E motherboard https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4N72E/
AMD Phenom X4 940 Deneb black 3.0 GHz cpu -https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103471
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W05287313&cm_re=arctic_freezer_7_pro-_-2S7-009N-00005-_-Product
NZXT Guardian 921 RB case. - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX5JA3989&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Cases+%28Computer+Cases+-+ATX+Form%29-_-9SIA0ZX5JA3989&gclid=CjsKDwjw0cXIBRCxjqnE3K3sHhIkAL1LezRmORPG1Urf-9Pba-LsoKLFqgQYHG8g3X04soOcubYwGgJdZ_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Here's my issue/question. The NZXT case has a 120mm outtake fan in the back of the case.
The Arctic Freezer 7 Pro can only mount to my Asus M4N72E board in two ways; pointing up at the power supply or down at the graphics card. It can't point out the back (where the 120 mm fan is) . I think this means that the Arctic 7 fan is either blowing hot air up at the PSU or down at the graphics card, depending upon which way I install it.

I'm thinking of putting the Phenom stock cooler back on which blows the air out the side (there's a side fan) of the case and seems to make more sense. I also don't think the PC is much quieter with the Arctic 7 over stock.

I think I thought that, compatible with AM2+, as the Arctic Freezer 7 pro states it is, meant in all situations, but it seems this is not ideal.

Should I get a different cooler?

Solution
In that case placing it so it blows air thru cooler and up at PSU would be preferred. Let's look at it this way: If CPU itself is running at 50c max, air coming thru the cooler is not going to be over 30c and PSU can take that without a problem while still provides air evacuation from the case. Some of that air is going to get sucked out by rear exhaust fan too and PSU will not be in trouble any way.

Thanks for the reply. I should clarify. My version of the NZXT Guardian was purchased in 2009 and it looks just like the one I shared via the link, but the back of the case is different. In mine, the power supply goes at the top of the back of the case. Sorry about that, the version I have is discontinued and I couldn't find a link.

That being said, you think it's okay, even so?

Typical CPU temp during gaming is 50C to 55C according to CPUID HWmonitor.

That is how I have it oriented, so I think I am good. I appreciate the quick reply, very helpful.
Thanks.
