you could overclock you Q9400 depending on the motherboards it is mounted on it
I ran a Q8300 8GB DDR2 with a HD 7770 on it and it did not bottleneck
and these cards are almost identical power on compare charts, since you Q9400 is more power than my Q8300 I would say go for it
of course I assume you have 8GB of ram going on your board
