Will I still have screen tearing? (AMD GPU + Freesync Monitor)

Hi all

I have another question that I need some help with...
Currently I am using an MSi Apache GE62

  • ■ Intel i7 5700HQ
    ■ Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M
    ■ 12Gb Ram
    ■ Monitor (used as primary screen) is a AOC G2260VWQ6 (60Hz) with FreeSync
The problem I have with this setup, is that some games, like Watch Dogs, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Project Cars and several others, have screen tearing when I play them fullscreen... (I don't have this issue when I play on my laptop's screen which also has 60Hz...)

My new build would be a desktop with

  • ■ Ryzen 5 1600x
    ■ AMD RX 580
    ■ 16Gb Ram
    ■ AOC G2260VWQ6 (60Hz) with FreeSync
Now my question is, since FreeSync "helps" AMD instead of Nvida, will I still have screen tearing using the desktop?

I know I could wait untill my desktop arrives and just test it but the monitors in the local store are on sale for only a couple of days so I could get a new one when I would have screen tearing...

I use a HDMI cable btw

Thanks!!

Solution
Freesync can help with screen tearing but you need to enable them via AMD control panel and you must use DP cable because VESA adaptive sync spec is part of display port spec not HDMI. also i think right now Freesync can only be used in exclusive full screen mode.
