Solution
1) Yes you can use 2 or 3 cables to make up the 3x8pin, just as long as it has all the connectores
2) You dont need 1000w PSU for one 1080ti. A quality 650w would be enough. 1080ti will use 250w TDP of power, giving 200w for the rest of your system that is 450w.
3) Sorry to say but an fx 9590 is not going to be able to utilize a 1080 ti to its fullest. The 9xxx serries cpus had a very large gap between actual performance and desired/precieved performance. In the end they were just electricity and heat magnets that still could not beat an i5.
If you are going to upgrade CPU/Motherboard to intel or Ryzen in near future then go ahead and get the 1080ti, but if you plan to stick with your FX for a good while then anything above a 1070...

If your current power supply does not have three PCI-E 8-pin (6+2pin) power ports, it's not designed to handle a card that requires three PCI-E power ports and would not be recommended.

The Corsair RM1000 reports 8 PCI-E 8-pin power ports, so it should be more than enough for your new graphics solution.
