I am planning to upgrade my current processor (Phenom X4) to a newer processor (Phenom II X6) but what i was reading about the Phenom II X6 1090T-1100T they aren't compatible with ddr2 ram. I looked on the ASRock website and it does say that these processors are compatible with my motherboard but my motherboard only supports ddr2 ram, so i'm wondering if i'll be able to successfully upgrade my processor without any issues. Your motherboard is not compatible with either of those CPU. They use AM3 socket while your motherboard has compatibility with AM2/AM2+ .
That is why the CPUs you were looking support DDR3 and not DDR2.

So it should work but will be pretty much limited by slow, DDR2 RAM. Also make sure you have adequate BIOS version before trying new processor.

I did a search before commenting but I did not get a result for A770DE+ but only for A770DE. That's why I said what I said.

I stand corrected, both are compatible.

i just wanted to make sure that i would actually be able to use the new processor with the ram. i'm basically looking to upgrade to play some of the newer games for a few months until i can do a complete overhaul of my rig. can you link me to a guild for updating my bios?

Update guide is here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A770DE+/#Manual in the manual. Safest way is to do it thru BIOS.
