So I am having problems with my current amd machine (screen goes black after closing a game making me restart the pc) and I believe its time for me to upgrade.

My Current Machine

Upgraded Machine

As you see i'm reusing some parts like the case. I'm wondering is my current pick the best idea. I will be gaming and streaming on this machine. The current price of $638 is already too much for me but i'm wondering is there anything better and also cheaper i can change on this list to save money. NOTE: i will not touch anything from intel, I am amd all the way though i am lenient with nvidea gpus.

update: I am not overclocking at all. I will never overclock my system so I do not care for (this gpu will be cheaper and better if you overclock 300x and sit it in the right position with a cap on its head) kind of answers. i'm looking for solid this will be faster stock.

Everything should run fine straight out of the box for your budget. The only thing with the is the PSU is wayyyy more than you'll need. If it's in your current rig you can reuse it no problem but if you're buying one you don't need more than a 500 to 600w PSU. The only thing I'd change is moving up to 16GB of RAM. Games are taking more and more RAM these days. I've had more than a few recently take up around 8 GB on their own to run not including the 2 or so GB windows uses.

thank you all for your answers. I am saving this current build for another friend so saving my gpu is not an option atm. I have seen alot of comments saying 1600 instead of 1600x and is this a good idea for me or should i just shell out the extra money for a 1600x. The extra 30 dollars does not bother me unless I am not getting any extra performance with the 1600x by not overclocking.

1600x will be better but requires an aftermarket cpu cooler ( no stock fan with the X cpus) it's the better choice if you're not overclocking . however and i know you don't wish to hear about this cap.. but i must tilt it towards the north star and say overclocking the 1600 is a simple process. please don't throw rocks at me

read his OP  he's staying at stock:no: no overclock talk allowed and we just both overstepped that line haha

1600X does not have a CPU cooler included at all, the 1600 does.

Still, OP already has a 212 Evo, so it doesn't matter either way.

The 1600X is only for enthusiasts who know why they are picking it over the 1600 Non-X. The normal consumer should just stick to the 1600 and save money.

he isn't keeping his current build. he's giving it to a friend .. so the extra price for the cooler will have to be included . also because he isn't overclocking and wants the best performance @ stock.. then the 1600x is the better choice based on stock speeds.

Ok, if OP realises he/she will be spending loads more (In my opinion unnecessarily), then he/she should just go with the 1600X.

i agree it's not necessary right now but perhaps in 2-3 years those extra 400mhz base and 400mhz @turbo clock speeds may come in useful and make it worthwhile for someone who never ever intends to overclock .

the 1600 makes absolutely more sense for anyone remotely interested in overclocking though .

price/performance over the lifetime of the 1600x maybe worth it for this particular individual .

edit: brain freeze with my numbers for anyone that read this post before the edit .

Thank you all for the answers again. I have to clarify everything you see in the new list im replacing, anything being replaced on the list goes to my friend so i'm keeping the case, fans, cpu cooler, psu, hard drive, ssd, etc. I have one more question before i end this and the best answer for this gets my solution and respect. :) What will be the best affordable aio cpu cooler? I've never water cooled and wouldn't want to anyways so these all in one coolers look like a great idea. I don't want to dish out a house to buy one but I don't want to have it fail randomly. My current cooler (hyper 212 evo) makes my room toasty and it can reach over 90 degrees if i dont run an air conditioner at all times even in the winter I need a fan in my window. Is there a cpu cooler that will fix that problem preferably an aio and maybe led light pls? :)

edit: i tried overclocking once and that was with one of those aplications that does it for you and sets it to your specific cpu and the pc caught fire (maybe a faulty connection with the motherboard) so I will never overclock again unless my pc does it automatically like ryzen does.

Good news because Ryzen will help with the heat issue as is. The old FX chips run pretty hot when fully loaded which in this situation dumped all that excess heat into your room. This will still happen with any CPU cooling solution but a cooler running chip will help to mitigate that to an extent. Ryzen runs pretty cool. If you don't plan on overclocking I'd just get a Corsair H60. I have that little guy cooling my Ryzen 1700x that's OC'd to 3.9 Ghz and I've yet to hit 60c during stress tests. Your results may vary depending on the ambient temperature of your room but the H60 should be all you need for a non overclocked Ryzen chip.
