I'm upgrading my pc for gaming currently I'm using i3 processor 2+2 gb ddr3 1333 ram asus h61m-cs motherboard
I'm planing To beef it up with i7processor and higher ram with geforce gt1050ti
I have two queries :
1, can 2gb ddr3 1333 ram be combined with 8gb ddr3 2133 ?
2, should I upgrade my mother board ?

Update :

my final build plan :

mobo : Asus B150M-A D3
gpu : MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5
cpu : I5 7600K 7th Gen
memory : Kingston Savage Memory - 1 x 8GB - DDR3 2133MHz

going to use my old Tb HDD and psu (is it ok to be not much concerned about it)

and i have only disma

Solution
Hi, sorry I took so long to respond, doing other things. Here are my comments on your temp build and upgrade plan

    ■ CPU: Might want to consider a Pentium G4560 instead of the i5-6500, way cheaper and not that much slower.
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6500/3892vs3513■ Use the money save to upgrade the RAM, 4GB is not much these days and when you upgrade to a better CPU you will want faster RAM■ Also use the extra money to get the cooler that will be used permanently instead of this cheap, temporary one■ Do not buy the VS series PSU's, they are low quality even if they are Corsair. And you will want at least 650W for a GTX 1080 Ti.■ The STRIX Z270F wasn't coming up with a price so I...
Your current mobo is H61 chipset which is a budget level chipset, no overclocking on this board. It will not support DDR3 2133MHz RAM, highest it will support is 2X8GB DDR3 1600MHz.
https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/H61MCS/specifications/

Second, combining the 1333 RAM with the 2133 RAM would cause the 2133 to run at 1333 so not a good idea, wasted money.

Next, combining an i7 with a GTX 1050 Ti doesn't make much sense to me, an i5 would be cheaper and a closer match. Not that using one will be a problem, just that you have a strong CPU paired with a weak GPU. If you do get one it must be from this list. Another option to consider from this list are the Xeon 1230 and Xeon 1245 CPU's
https://www.asus.com/in/Motherboards/H61MCS/HelpDesk_CPU/

Do you need another motherboard? From a CPU standpoint the i7-3770, i7-3770k, i5-3550, i5-3570 and i5-3570k are still tier1 processors so that's okay. A supported i5 coupled with some 1600MHz ram and the 1050 Ti will produce a decent gamer, not real powerful but still able to game reasonably well at 1080p. If you want more performance or want to overclock, you will need a new mobo.

I got your private message, please try to communicate using the forum post so all can see the thread. I see that you have updated your proposed build to an i5, a B150 mobo and a GTX 1060. Much better match and more powerful.

First, this B150 will require BIOS version 2201 to allow use of the Kaby Lake i5-7600K. BIOS 2201 was released on 07-Apr-17 so the chances of getting a board with this version are pretty low (see CPU support link above). The only way to update the BIOS is with a CPU in the socket. But you can't use the 7600K, that is what the BIOS update allows. A B250 mobo wouldn't have this problem but I don't know of any that use DDR3 memory.

If you chose the B150 mobo then you will have to find a Sky Lake CPU to allow for the update. If you are buying from a local store they might be able to help you. You could also buy a Sky Lake CPU and avoid this issue altogether, this is what I would do. In fact I would not buy the K-processor to use with this mobo, an i5-6500 or i5-6400 will work fine and will be cheaper.

Next, the Kingston Savage RAM will not run at 2133MHz in the mobo, 1800(OC) is the highest you can go. Luckily it does have a JEDEC standard latency DDR3-1600 timing of 11-11-11 at 1.5V so it will boot up. Best here would be to use XMP Profile #2: DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9 @1.5V. The 1.5V is outside of the Sky Lake max voltage requirement but this mobo supports voltages as high as 1.65V.
http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/HX321C11SR_8.pdf
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/B150M-A_D3/B150M-A_D3_Memory_QVL.pdf?_ga=2.148223733.335819260.1494418034-1754614606.1484660086

Next, yes, I would absolutely be concerned about your PSU. If it is old and cheap you could be putting all of your components at risk for failure. When cheap PSU's fail it is almost certain they will fry something in the system, sometimes the entire system. And you have to worry about the amount of power that can be provided, you have now gone from the 75W 1050 Ti to the 120W 1060. And you cannot go by what is on the label of the PSU, manufacturers have been known to overclaim wattage, cheap ones often cannot sustain heavy loads like gaming and they lose wattage as they age.

I put some of the components into a PCPartPicker build. Not sure of your country of purchase, it can be changed. If you want to provide a budget, a country of purchase, what components have already been purchased (RAM?) and any preferred online vendors I can finish the build for you.

Thanks a lot Im actually a beginner, To be honest this gonna be my first build. Day before yesterday my pc (assembled and sold by another person an year ago) did not turn on so i asked him to repair it he demanded me Rs.600($10) it wasn't a problem for me to pay, but paying it without knowing what's wrong in it was. my dad advised me to to dismantle and reassemble the the whole control unit. I just finished my high school and im in vacation so i thought of it as an hobby and reassembled my CPU, and turned it on. it was sooo easy and i was impressed a lot. and i decided to build a new gaming rig.

I was so excited so i surfed and ended up here to realize building up a pc from scratch is way harder than just reassembling, form today's research on processors, graphic cards motherboards and their compatibility i came up to this build which as you quoted have lot of mistakes. thanks for that, Im learning.

another big problem for me is after assembling the hardware, i have no pinch of knowledge about starting or booting it and installing os and other software issues. i guess i have time to learn all these in this week.

Apart from this im clear about few things about hardware im going to use :
- i5 7600k, According to my research i7 is equal in performance with i5 7600k in gaming (what do you think about it ?)
- Msi GeForce GTX 1060 6gb, i see u have suggested ZOTAC but it along with ERCA are having poor ratings and services in my country (INDIA)

i need opinion in mobo , RAM , PSU . my dad wanna have it economic. so please give ur opinion about these keeping in mind that i want to get the cheapest ones which could run my cpu and gpu safely and comfortably.

also later i would need help with booting up and stuffs like that .Thanks

Well it is great that you are starting, it can be a lot of fun and very educational, even possibly leading to marketable work skills. Stick with it.

The i5-7600K is a great CPU and even in non-overclocking builds I still suggest its use due to its stock core speed being 400MHz higher than the plain i5-7600. But first a little explanations of how CPU's work.

Think of CPU's like highways with cars. How many cars you can get from point A to point B depends on how fast the cars are going (core speed) and how many traffic lanes there are(threads). If you have one highway with two lanes with cars going 100 km/h you will still get more cars from point A to point B if you have 4 lanes with cars going 60 km/h. Now this only works if all the lanes are being used, if there are only three lanes that can be used then the 2 lane highway at 100 km/h is faster. You can also sometimes stack one car on top of tow truck to get two vehicles in the same spot (hyperthreading).

To say an i5 is as fast as an i7 only takes into account the core speed, an i7 has 8 threads while an i5 has four threads. If you are only using four threads max, then the i5 will be as fast as a similar core speed i7. Some games use more than four threads, some don't. The i5 is still considered to be the go to model line for most gamers.

You didn't give me a budget so I just tried to build around the components you suggested. I also developed a Ryzen 5 build which has its own strengths and weaknesses. This is the primary point about designing computer builds, knowing how it will be used so that you can address these needs. The Ryzen build below was built with the idea of adding a second RX 580 later on to improve the gaming performance. To do this I would like to have a CPU with at least 6 cores / 12 threads. I am not saying that you should go for one build over the other, it is just two options that can be considered depending on what you want and what you might do.

Builds were sourced from three local Indian vendors, Amazon.in, mdcomputers.in and Prime ABGB. Links to all the components are included as well. You can now discuss with your father the relative cost and what can/cannot be purchased.

Let me know what you need, I can help you with the OS installation, it is not that hard. Enjoy.

Thank you very much. I read many articles about processors but this concept and clarity which you gave me in paragraphs were no where

You didn't give me a budget so I just tried to build around the components you suggested. I also developed a Ryzen 5 build which has its own strengths and weaknesses. This is the primary point about designing computer builds, knowing how it will be used so that you can address these needs. I am not saying that you should go for one build over the other, it is just two options that can be considered depending on what you want and what you might do.

thanks a lot for your build, About the budget im under 50k rupees unfortunately both the builds you gave me are over it.
i made a build myself

https://in.pcpartpicker.com/user/Rahul_J_A/saved/ZRNVnQ

in the list i gave above the hdd hard drive is already with me

Let me know what you need, I can help you with the OS installation, it is not that hard. Enjoy.

Thank you very much again!!!
for now i am sticking with 8gb ram and 2133 Mb/s (its good for most of the games right?)

And to be honest i do occasional gaming . My usage of computer goes like this :
-60 % study and reference purpose
-5% hobbies, like "mild" photo editing
-20% watching movies movies
-15% gaming
I am pretty addictive to gaming so i restrict myself by allotting only one or two full days in a month to play

If the 2133 ram best suits the processor and if i dont have to upgrade it i will go with the current MSI b250 mortar mobo.
.In ur build i saw 2x8Gb with 3200 mb/s, is it the best for the given processor ? or is there any other ram better than it that suits the processor ? if there is a better ram. I cant buy it right now but surely i will upgrade mine in few months after the first build. but for that i cannot use the b250 mortar mobo (2400 mbps is the limit in that ). if higher speed Rams are worth it i dont mind to push my budget around 55k rupees and buy the mobo u sugested in the i5 build.

one doubt : how long in the future will the current build ( i5 7600k + gtx 1060 gpu + ASRock - Z270M mobo )
will last as a good gaming rig

few more doubts : how long in the future will my PC with ASRock - Z270M mobo
will last as a good gaming rig, considering that i could upgrade the processor and gpu ? and is all intell processor compatible with this mobo ?

Also I wanna know about motherboard a bit in detail, about the components and their functions, the connections, pins etc. etc. i would be gratefull if you can give me the links of some good articles in here for beginners like me about the mobo.

If you can wait a month or so to save up more funds, there will be a brand new platform called Kaby Lake X coming out from intel. The thermals will be more stable as there will be no igpu and more surface area to spread the heat out.

chances for me to wait are slim because now im in vacation with lots of free time. later Im joining a Med school, thats why im running low on funds plus in In India, the medical schools sucks time every day for studies leaving no time to even have a good meal and sleep. i can only get a couple of hours for pursuing my hobbies, along with this new hobby of pc works, i have many hobbies too, to pursue in that time. so in those rush hours I cant afford to get time for building a PC from scratch

i did a bit of research. one of the chipset that is going to power kaby lake x seems to be x299 chip. and it is for high end pcs, the cheapest x series chip set costs arond 20000 rupees (307) $

along with the processor it seems to be a costlier build

You have to watch the prices that PCPartPicker pulls from Amazon, they are more often wrong than right. I took your build and put the correct pricing in there, added a case which was missed and changed the PSU (to a better one) as the Corsair was not available from Amazon and therefore the cost wasn't being added to the total. You can see the price jumped up by ₹12000.

Frankly an i5 build might be out of this budget range. In the build below there is no OS and no Wifi connection capability (Wifi card). This will likely add at least another ₹10000. If the 50K budget is for everything then I think you will be looking at a Pentium G4560 build. Not as bad as it sounds, I think it is the best price to performance CPU on the market today, almost as fast as an i3-7100. Had to drop down to the 1050Ti again. Also,FYI, dual channel RAM really should be bought in pairs so it can be run in dual channel mode.

Thanks a lot for those build but Unfortunately i had to change few requirements due to NEW CONSTRAINTS

Im totally changing my build after researching about MOBOs and ram. i am downsizing certain component, nearly all. and im upsizing the motherboard to z270 series. im gonna have a basic build now and im going to upgrade it in 3 stages, Due to limited pocket money flow for me

Basic build:

Reason for this change :
- my dad wanted me not to touch the old computer, that makes me to buy new cabinet,Cd Rom ALL UNDER 50K RUPEES ($ 780)
-thought a bit about future proofing

Regarding prices in amazon it costs exactly:Rs57379, dad was ok with it.
Im going to buy z270 ram, which will last longer. As mentioned earlier instead of 7600k, i5 6500(3/4 the cost o
f 7600k) will do for now. im going to 4gb ram rather than 8gb.
Regarding os I have a neighbour giving me his CD and i have this thing that looks like small pendrive (i dont know what the exact term is) when i plug it in the USB it connects me to wifi and thats how im typing this now
Then the upgrades goes as bellow

Stage one:

-this will happen in the late Q3 of this year by the time i will have way more money to spend though im not spending much in this stage
- I will add 8+4 Gb of vengeance lpx ram this will lead to total of 16 gb
- No loses in this stage

Stage two:
-this will happen in late Q4,2017 or early Q12018
-I will Upgrade my gpu to 1080i or some other new gpu that will be compatible to my pre-existing hardware
-loss: 1050ti gpu ($170 in india)

Stage three
-I will try to do this b4 march of 2018
-Upgrading my processor to i7 7700k or some other new and better processor compatible to my z270 MOBO then
-addition ddr4 2400mb/s 16 gb ram, total ram will be (4+4+8+16)GB
-loss: 6500k cpu (250)

With all these stages complete i will use this rig till it plays the future games smoothly with medium or bit low graphics

Should i upgrade the processor first or gpu first ?
is this idea worth the money?
are the parts in basic build compatible to each other ?

And you will want at least 650W for a GTX 1080 Ti.■ The STRIX Z270F wasn't coming up with a price so I substituted a highly rated Z270 board.
By going with the build below you will waste less of your money in upgrading components. In the meantime you will have a capable little gamer.

As far as what to upgrade first I would do the GPU first. Even though the G4560 will horribly bottleneck the 1080 Ti you will still see a better performance improvement than doing the CPU first.
