Recently got a new hard drive, and have just been installing my steam library onto it, and noticed that some downloads did not properly finished, telling me I had a corrupt disk.

I just ran a disk check on the drive and have been given this back:

Is this common for hard drives to have, this was a replacement for a completely faulty drive, but they should be brand new. Is there any extra checks I could run to see how much of the hard drive is corrupt?

WD & Seagate provide their own diagnostic software, they have done for years, both Windows & DOS-bootable versions (the former for non-system or external drives, latter for system drives or drives which won't boot in to Windows:

WD DL Diagnostic for DOS: http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=2
WD DL Diagnostic for Windows: http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?DL

Can't see the screenshot, did you run a disk check from Windows or using a utility from the drive vendor? If Windows, go to the drive vendor support site and run their utility. I would just contact them and tell them about the issues. This drive may not be new, a warranty return may be replaced with a used working drive.

It's not common but it happens, happened to me recently also. Brand new WD drive. Should be covered by warranty, but I'm still about to find that out.

And yes, I'm also looking for some software to check hard drives more thoroughly.
