Solution

She can have a very nice system in her budget for INR 40k

H110 Mobo + 8GB Crucial RAM + G4560 - INR 13,521 (https://www.theitdepot.com/combo-offer.html)
RX570 - From 16740 to 18650
PSU - CX 430 - 3350
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB - 3670
2 x 120mm fans - 1000
CM Force 500 - 2865 (comes with a rear exhaust fan, Masterbox Lite 3 does not and costs the same)

For 41,146 or 43,056 she gets a very nice gaming system.

Shivani_2 I'd have to agree with SR-71. It would be more cost efficient to build new. Is that an option for you? If not, what is your upgrade budget? Are you located in the US? If not, then what region? You'll undoubtedly be looking at used. You could buy a used 750 Ti off Ebay for $50 here in the US. You could also add 2 GB of memory. I presume that you're running a 32 bit version of windows, so it'll only recognize 3.5 GB of RAM. These upgrades will not making a decent gaming computer. They will make it minimally functional while playing games, emphasis on minimally.

Building new would be a much better option, but that depends on your finances.

Ebay or some other used site would be a good place to start. Which motherboard? GIGABYTE GA-G41M-Combo? That motherboard supports both DDR2 or DDR3 RAM. If you're not exactly sure, then download and run speccy (link below). The motherboard will be shown on both the summary and motherboard sections. Also check the RAM section, and make note of how many RAM slots are occupied and which ones, if noted.

What is your upgrade budget? Please name two or three games that you'd like your brother to be able to play. Also, what is his monitor's resolution? (or mfg. & model number).

The point they're trying to make is that if you put in a decent gaming card (ie: GTX 1060 or higher, RX470 or higher), the CPU is going to quickly bottleneck the GPU and you won't get as much as you could out of it. You would have to upgrade the CPU to a quad core. The RAM up to 8GB. The GPU to a GTX 1060 or RX 470. Then you'd have to upgrade the PSU as well to handle the load.

At that point, you've replaced EVERY single part of the computer already except the motherboard and you'll still be working with a computer full of used parts which has core parts (CPU/MOBO/RAM) of at least 7-8 years old.

You are much better served by biting the bullet and just doing a full upgrade to -new- parts, or at least Haswell generation parts paired with Nvidia 900 series GPUs if you're tight on the budget. Ultimately, gaming requires fairly serious hardware.

What you could probably get away with:
You can get Xeon server CPU's - E3-1230's (v1 - cpu SR00H) for about $70. LGA 1155 (gigabyte mATX H61 chipset) Motherboard for about another $50. 8gb (2x4gb, watch out for server ram - you DON'T want that) DDR3 ram for about $50ish. GTX 960 for about $90ish (watch out for 'as is - or not working). Seasonic based 450w PSU - about $40ish. I'm assuming you have a HDD and a case already for it.

This would be the MINIMUM for a moderately capable gaming computer for 1080p gaming at medium settings... That would actually only cost about $300 USD (or 20,000 rupee)

Here is another build idea for you, for cheap.

Asus H110 Motherboard, Intel G4560, Cheapest 2133 DDR4 Ram x 8gb you can get hold of. Infact TheItDepot website is offering the same combo for INR 14,000, add Rs. 3000 for a Cooler Master Case and another 2500-3000 for a 80+ Bronze PSU, perhaps 2 1200mm fans for front instake. CM Force 500 comes with a rear intake fan and just costs INR 2900. For the GPU, get an GTX1060(6GB)/RX570/RX580 8GB variant depending on the budget. HDD you can get Seagate Barracuda 2TB or WD Blue 2TB.

If you cant have the RX570/580 due to budget limitations, get a 1050Ti(12k) which is like half the price in India currently as compared to RX580 (25.5k). GTX 1060 3GB is also another option.

I would look for a used desktop business PC from Dell, HP, or Lenovo. You can generally get those for very cheap as companies upgrade and throw out the old PC's. Look for a system that has an i5 2nd gen or better. Then you can upgrade the PSU and add a GPU.
