Hello,

I've recently bought a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad with Win 7 Pro pre-installed. The laptop has no CD drive and will come without the installation disk. The supplier offered to install "recovery media" but they only gave me an hour's notice to respond before they sent it to dispatch.

What are my options if I want to backup or do a clean reinstall?

Thanks.

The biggest thing is to make sure you have the little sticker with the cd key. If its on the bottom of the laptop take a picture, cut it out and tape it under the battery. You will wear out the sticker on the bottom of the laptop and not be able to read it after a while.

If you have the cd key you can use any media disc that matches your version of windows 7 pro, be it 32 bit or 64 bit. I always keep a usb DVD drive laying around, none of my desktops have had a optical drive for over 10 years now.

The laptop didn't come with a product key sticker. How do I access it now?
