Networks only works through router but not directly in the PC.

So, I just got a new internet provider today, and they did some stuff, configured my wireless router again etc. The problem is that my router is only 10/100Mbps, and the internet is 300Mbps, although on the box of the router it says 300Mbps...
Anyways, and I want to know if the internet really is 300Mbps by connecting it directly to the pc, not through the router (with another cable coming out from it... you know the deal), but... the internet doesn't work if it's directly connected in the PC. I remember something about MAC adress but don't really know where to look or what to search. I am absolutely sure this question has been asked before many times but as I said, I don't know what to search. Please help.

P.S. : If it helps some bit, I got Windows 10 Pro and the Motherboard is a Gygabye B75M-D3H (it's specs say 1000Mbps)

Dont know if you are using fiber or cable internet.

If using AT&T uverse then that lan cable going into their modem/router is not sending ethernet data so plugging it into your PC wont work
If you are using a coax cable type connection then you have to reboot the modem to make it recognize that a different device is plugged into it.

Either way dont stay like that for long because a router is the base foundation of security. Having no router and a bunch of security is like having a really strong gate but no fence to either side of it.

In regards to the router saying 300mbps that is meaning its wifi connection and that 300mbps is meaning the transmit and receive combined and that is the max theoretical lab speed, not real world in any...

your router is connect to the isp modem so it see the router mac address on for service if you want to test directly on lan from pc you need to plug in isp modem and then reset the modem so it will take you lan card mac address as the one to connect to isp then you will have to do reverse process to get your router back with modem that is at your own risk since they already sent a tech to set it up .

Google your "<internet service provider> speed test" and run some tests. First find out if you actually have an ISP speed problem.

Ok thank you for your answers everyone. After all I have to buy another router since security problems and all.
For those curious, the net is optic fiber... at least it says so, don't really know the difference since I always had optic fiber...
