so i want to get a new motherboard and cpu

but i want to know what will happen to my data in my hard drive once i upgrade? will it delete itself or will i have to clean it beforehand?

It will not delete itself. However switching motherboard usually requires reinstalling OS, and you can delete the drive contents at the drive choosing phase of install.

nothing will be touched on the hard drive. however, it is recommended to do a clean install of of your operating system after changing the motherboard
