gigabyte gtx 1060 windforce oc 6Gb wont boot on MSI z270 pro motherboard

my new 1060 wont boot in my motherboard, everything will turn on but it wont give out a video out put even though everything in the pc is on and spinning

my specs are

I5 7500 3.4Ghz
8Gb ram
1TB HDD
1060 6GB
msi z270 pro motherboard
antec 700w psu

any help would be gratefully accepted since im not that tec savy

Did you connected monitor to GPU and not to motherboard? Power cable(s) connected to GPU?

yes i connected the gpu through HDMI cable and had its 6 pin power plugged in. i had it running for 2 hours before it crashed and stopped the computer from booting up

So it was working fine and now is not? Try connecting monitor to motherboard then and see if it still won't boot. If nothing, remove GPU from system and see if comp will boot right with monitor connected to motherboard.

okay the computer boots up fine with the 1060 removed and my monitor loads up with a VGA cable in

So it is either motherboard slot issue or the card failed. I guess your board has more then one PCIe x16 slot, so try with GPU installed in next slot.

okay i just tried it in the second slot and im having the same issue but the 1060's fans still kick on

So looks like motherboard is ok then. If you can, try the GPU at another comp.

im afraid not as im the only one in my circle with a pc as the others have laptops, though my graphics card is still under warranty

Good, cos that's the next step I would recommend. Though without testing the card in another PC can't get 100% sure, but right now it's 90% that it is card fault.

so there isnt any chance that the problems could be software based then or will i only find that out if i can test it in a other machine
