Hi all. I bought a new Laptop with windows 10 (what choice does one really have). So I did the common sense thing. I backed it up and installed windows 7 on top.

Despite the Laptop manufacturers not officially supporting windows 7, I was able to install install most drivers without too much problems.

I also installed the windows 7 updates (also that Kabylake compatibility of course jumped up at the end. Thanks microsoft for honouring your word to support windows 7 until 2020,

Sorry for the rant. Back on topic.

So I have all the windows updates, and many drivers, such as wifi etc. The one thing I really need, is the Intel graphic driver. Now, on their webpage, I download the drivers, which btw. are working on windows 7, at least so it says on their webpage.
But when I try to install, I get this message
"Your computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing the software."

I should say that I did not install windows 7 as UEFI, but on legacy mode. Could that be it? (Please don't just say yes, unless you are having reason to believe so. It takes many many hours to install everything on a 5400 rpm HDD, including the updates.)

Is there a way I can install intels drivers on Windows 7? Btw. I also tried an older version of the driver, from 2016. Still does not work. Same error message.

The CPU is an i5 7200U. The Laptop is an Acer E5 575G

Cheers everyone.

They don't have any windows 7 support. But the windows 10 drivers all installed fine. However, there was no custom driver for the graphics at all. While they have a VGA driver on their website, it is simple an extracted version for Intel's newest stock driver.

I have made an image, and tried an older version of the driver too.

I don't mean to sound negative, I know you are trying to help.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I will go to sleep now though.

Cheers.

I will try the approaches tomorrow. BTW, what compatibility mode should I choose? If it has problems with win 7, surely the holders will not work better?

Using the device manager seems interesting. Definity worth a try.

Cheers

I tried using the device manager.

I tell it to upgrade from location, direct it to the Intel drivers, but it tells me that the most up-to-date drivers of the VGA are already installed. When I uninstall the drivers, it either completely disables it (in safe mode), or asks me to restart.
Upon restart, it either tries to install it itself, or if I reboot in safe mode, to make sure it is not connected to the internet, it still tells me that the most up-to-date drivers are installed. Which is weird.

I hate the new microsoft so much. With a passion. I can not wait for Linux to become more competitive and drive these bastards into bankruptcy.
