Hi.

A couple of days ago I formated my HDD with DBAN formatting program. To be able to do this, I had to change two settings in the BIOS for BDAN to start up from a DVD with DBAN on it. Basically what I changed in the BIOS was what is shown and instructed in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Un_QpDoRQ

By doing this, the DVD was booted when I restarted and I could continue to use DBAN from the DVD. DBAN worked fine and I proceeded to install Windows10 on the Notebook right afterwards.
However, when I tried to go back into the BIOS after Windows was installed and reset the BIOS to the original settings (aka 'Secure Boot Control' on 'Enabled' and 'Launch CSM' on 'Disabled') and pressed F10 to Save and Exit, the Notebook goes straight back to the BIOS setting menu.

I have tried sevel combinations of the two, such as 'Secure Boot Control' on 'Enabled', while 'Launch CSM' was also enabled, etc. But it still goes back to the BIOS screen and does not start Windows.

Only if I go back to the settings that are shown in the video above, and which allowed me to boot DBAN from my DVD, Windows will start, but without the 'Secure Boot Control' on.

So what am I doing wrong? Why cant I suddenly change the BIOS back to the orginal BIOS settings with 'Secure Boot Control' enabled?

My ASUS: Asus N56VZ-DS71
OS: Windows 10 Education Edition

Please help!

Leave it as it is. There is no risk in having secure boot disabled unless you plan on browsing very obscure websites and even then it wont be much risk, it is protection only against some rootkit malware. Only other option is enable it and reinstall windows in uefi mode, but that is up to you if you want to waste time with this. How to install windows 10 in uefi can be easily found on google, it requires removing partitions (and thus all data) and formatting drive with different partition table - GPT.

Default settings you are trying to use are for uefi boot, you installed windows in non-uefi (legacy) mode and these two aren't compatible. Launch CSM is for toggling between non-uefi (in enabled) and uefi (in disabled). Secure boot is for launching only authorized systems and works only with uefi mode, so enabling it will switch boot options to uefi only.

Ok, thanks!
Then I understand better. I was suspecting that it had something to do with the partition and where Windows is.
I will consider re-install it in UEFI mode and hopefully do it right this time.
