So I have a new HDD coming (Seagate Barracuda 2TB SATA III 6gb/s). I've only ever used the non-Asmedia SATA III driver ports on my mobo (MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) ) but now that I have this new drive coming which has the 6Gb/s speeds, I will use the 7th port to install the HDD. I also bought a 6gb/s SATA III speed cable which is also backwards compatible with 3 gb/s and 1.5gb/s speeds. So when I install it my HDD should function until I can install the Asmedia SATA III 6gb/s drivers from my mobo page.
My question, I got the most highly rated cable from newegg for this, which was $6.18 after shipping. I got "Straight to Right angle" as I read it's the best... what's the difference? People seem to say Straight to Right is better than Straight to Straight or Straight to left.
Also this cable has a metal latch on it... what exactly for?
Here is the cable I ordered: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812123111
