What that video basically did was allow the fan to be moved. Normally the fan sits slightly lower, equal to the top of the heatsink fins but has space below. The air moved below the tower blows across the heatsinking and other components around the base of the cooler. This helps keep the motherboard socket area a little cooler. But there is room for the fan to be raised slightly, several mm upto the top of the heatpipes (the little knobs on top) and not affect either motherboard cooling or cpu cooling to any degree. By raising the fan, it gives better clearance for ram when using the first slot nearest the cpu. On your board, the placement of the ram slots is similar to a 4 slot board, but in the area of slots #3,4 so is the furthest slots away. The cpu cooler fan shouldn't overlap your ram at all, and if it does, you can move that fan upwards @5mm and not impact performance.
