Hi everyone!
I am someone who uses a pc 99% of the time for gaming. I have an r9 390x and used to have an fx 8350. Most games ran fine however some indie games that weren't quite so well optimized gave me bad fps. Literally everyone said its because the 8350 has poor single core performance. After acquiring some money recently, I decided to upgrade my cpu to an i5 7600k in hopes of getting better fps. To my surprise, this cpu, which was reported to be as much as 70% better for gaming, turned out not to be. The 3 games that were problematic either had the exact same fps, or, bizzarely enough, even lower. Red Orchestra 2, which is an Unreal Engine game, notorious for putting a lot of stress on one core, went from an average of 60 fps, and lowest 30 to 40 average and lowest 15. Cpu and gpu usage is at 100% while playing the game, its at 4.2 GHz clock, temps are around 50-60, the PSU is overkill at 750 W. I really have no idea what it could be, I just can't comprehend how a significantly weaker cpu would be getting higher fps than a stronger one. This kinda bummed me out. Should I ask for a refund and go back to my old setup or? Thank you all in advance!
