Well that wouldn't work. Cloning is basically have ASUS stuff inside of a Sony computer..especially if it's different OS. The easiest method is to just drag and drop the Document folder onto the hard drive. Hopefully you have a USB3.0 connection.
YES and I know why that is important. Have reached conclusion that really what I MUST have is a copy of my 'DOCUMENT' file which has all documents, all photo files etc. Need command line (http:// .............) to copy that Windows 7 document file from ASUS laptop, to Sony laptop on Windows 10 (laptop had W8 upgraded when free to W10).
Thanks for reply . davzway
PS: a USB Windows pkg, formerly CompUSA (now TigerDirect ?), came with cd disc with drivers and software (Windows & Mac) and 6' USB cable (not 3.0) ,, faster than drag n drop method. Copying ALL that's filed under Documents,, won't live long enough to drag n drop, Am not familiar with W10 yet,, hoping something there (what's on Sony laptop,,, don't have sufficient time to say what's what yet on W10 (W7 didn't that I've could find to work). ASUS G51 been good laptop, ?8years, Sony laptop was their best at time (SVS13A290X, 'Carbon' chassis plus a slice battery pack on back, custom ordered direct from Sony, including BluRay Burner/Write drive, IPS 1080p HD screen, discrete GPU, etc- $1400 worth ) bought three years ago a month BEFORE Sony sold computer division. Sony lied and shafted this buyer, promising W8 downgrade to W7 at no cost and provided five links that would do W8 to W7,,, only it was all FALSE. Bottom line, laptop owner needed to BUY W7 FULL OP system (I refused pay more) and repeated requests and Sony promise of RMA never happened. Unused laptop other than keeping laptop and slice battery pack charged regularly; did do W8 to W10 when offered. Need to use that Sony as ASUS has overheating issue if video playing, shuts off laptop, so living on borrowed time. Reason back to experts on Tom's Forum. Excuse the long tale of laptop woe. davzway
