Hi guys i've attempted to change the thermal paste on my gpu and its getting alot hotter than it used to. Ive noticed mini circuit things around the chip are they supposed to have paste on aswell or just the silver GPU chip?

Just the main chip die itself mate.

However as long as the paste is non conductive it shouldn't harm anything , I've seen the stock paste caked over everything in the past straight from the factory.

You've either used too much/too little paste or just used crap stuff if youre getting higher temps than before.

You did clean the old stuff off first??

Is it the 280x in your profile you're talking about ??

At first i used mx-4 and it didn't really do anything and now I've just put some cooler master stuff on it that came with my old 212 cooler. It seems to be doing ok atm but I've not gone on a GPU intensive game yet. I'm not sure if the mx-4 i was using had gone off it went rather dry and gritty was almost like pasting cement onto the GPU. When i get chance i'm going to just go all out and buy some thermal grizzly conductonaut.
