I currently use ExpressVPN, I use it simply to ensure privacy for my internet. If i were to go through and delete the log files in my computer on a regular basis, wouldn't that be a sufficient method rather than paying for a VPN?

Solution
No it wouldn't. Your ISP still can track your steps. Not to mention, your IP is displayed for the world to see. This means that anyone could get to your computer and get some information, which also displays your location. Not to mention, websites can track your location and use that information and sell it to 3rd parties, jsut like your ISP could. Also, if the website you are visiting is not secured, some back door stuff could be used and attack your machine.

TL;DR: VPN is useful for privacy because it hides your IP. Just because you delete logs, doesn't mean people can't find you or track your whereabouts.
That doesn't accomplish the same task, no. The VPN hides network traffic, not local logs. If someone wanted to sniff your traffic, they couldn't do it if you were encapsulating your information within a VPN (theoretically), but if you were transmitting that data outside the VPN, it's theirs for the taking. Deleting your log files only gets rid of content on your end. If that same content went out to the internet as well, there is still the possibility that someone stole that information.
