Should I replace my motherboard or power supply?

So a while back I had an issue where my computer would turn on but would have no display. I cleared my cmos on my motherboard and it seemed to work. However it happened again and it seems like it won't turn on anymore. My computer turns on and off by itself and I'm certain that I have to replace something now. But the question is should I replace my PSU or my motherboard? I've heard that both are big reasons to this issue and I'm curious.

My specs
Motherboard:MSI Z97A Gaming 7
CPU:I7-4790K
GPU:ASUS Strix 980ti
CPU Cooler:Swiftech h240 x2
Power Supply:Corsair AX 860i
RAM:Corsair 32GB (4x8GB)
SSD:Samsung 850 Evo 250GB
HDD:Seagate 2TB
Case:Corsair 760t graphite
Hope this helps

Yeah. I've seen this happen to other people and most answers are either the motherboard is wrong or the psu, so I'm wondering which one I gotta replace.

To answer all your questions I don't have another psu to test this on. And I haven't tried taking out my gpu and turning it on. I'll try that real quick.
