How long can CPU with thermal paste stay outside?

i built a pc and when i turned it on it didnt work, i am sending my motherboard for replacement. i had to remove the cpu and the cooler therefore i cant clean the thermal paste. i've order

Please help me out the ryzen 1700 is expensive and so my pc and i dont want a little scratch

Wait, you removed the cpu and therefore you cannot clean the paste off? Im confused. Do you have the CPU in your possession with the paste still on it?

alright so the cpu cooler came with preinstalled thermal, the motherboard came out to be dead so i had to remove everything. i dont have the alcoholic stuff to clean the thermal off the cpu

Have you tried wipes because i did not clean mine off with alcoholic stuff because i used bit off wet cloth not so wet because did not want to damage it to clean my cooler paste off and scraped off abit off paste!

as far as i know you shouldn't be using wipes or toilet tissues. how about ear cleaning and pure alcohol. i dont think we have alcohol. no one drinks alcohol in my family

Its easy cleaning the paste off the cpu but for the cooler did not know what to use last week so cleaned it off with tissue just abit off dry cloth and something sharp to scrape the hard paste off and yes i should not use that way but buying more thermal paste and getting the alcoholic stuff going to cost me more!

Lucky enough did not get any trapped to damage my cpu but safe bet get some alcoholic stuff from amazon or something that cleans paste off also when putting it on only a pea size because my mistake last week put to much and my cpu temps went to 100

Go to an store that will sell the product to clean it with or buy it from Amazon and go on YouTube and look up vid on how to remove it and replay the thermal paste

you will have to remove the thermal paste from the pins very carefully
use cotton swaps, no fluid
this thermal paste is not dried yet, so you won´t need isopropyl alcohol necessarily to clean

get new thermal paste like arctic mx-2

i used brush to clean it off and i can see little bit is that fine? is that going to effect anything?

contact problems could get you into trouble or if the paste is conducting, it could shorten pins. Really try to remove all you can see, or it could kill your CPU and motherboard (worst case scenario)

acetone could be a bit agressive for the pin side, just try there without fluid
for the top site, where the cooler comes on, this should be fine

To clean the pins I don't think these items will help. To clean the cooling pads these will be fine

Toothbrush could have induced voltage and therfore damaged the CPU with an electrostatic discharge

You can try to RMA it of course
