Okay so I have a i3 6100k which was getting 55-60c on average temp but then and I bought a i5 6600k and ended up getting 89c on it! I have a stock intel fan and I'm planning on buying the 212 cooler. How much would the temp difference be? I'm also applying thermal paste on the i5.

My specs:
MB: Asus micro ATX h110m-k
GPU: MsiRadeon 470
Ram: ballistic sport LT 8 GB

Solution
If you have reused the old cooler but haven't applied fresh thermal paste that's the reason for those sky high temperatures, and you MUST apply thermal paste as soon as is possible or you risk burning the new i5 out.

It's not the best available but a Hyper 212 is a big upgrade to the stock Intel cooler, just make sure it'll fit your case, at 160mm tall not all cases will support it.

I haven't put paste on the i5 yet, I am going to though. Also, I'm trying to figure out if the cooler will actually be worth the buy.
