So I am getting a new pc case because my old one is literally about to fall apart. I took a look at all the nice ones, but I notice that almost none of the nice ones have a bay for an optical drive. Now I can't download things via discs. Now I have to go buy an external drive, but why did all the optical drive bays stop coming in the cases?

Solution
There are still many cases out there that have optical drives.
The reason they are disappearing is because you are easily in the minority of users who still needs an optical drive (I have one, but I havent used it in years)

I know your feeling I just upgraded to a new case without optical drives. I was frustrated because I have a blue-ray drive that now is useless and I just bought a new motherboard that needs an optical drive for the included ROG Supreme FX HI-FI Sound card. They are doing it because aesthetics and because most users and gamers download their products(like games, music, movies) online instead of buying and using hard copies. For example the case I bought is a full tempered glass, of course it looks amazing but now I'm stuck with a case that I like a lot and has no optical drives for my HI-FI Sound Card or my Blue-Ray player.

Here is the link for the case I bought:https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIACUC57H2444&cm_re=tempered_glass-_-9SIACUC57H2444-_-Product

And this one is the link for my new Asus motherboard:https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132698&ignorebbr=1
