Hello guys

I bought some new parts to upgrade my pc, a MSI b350m gaming pro, Ryzen 5 1600 and 2x 8gb memory. I have some experience in building, so i decided to do it by myself. I unboxed and installed all components following the mobo guide and got red lights for the CPU.

I removed all components, re-apply the termal paste and try to boot with only one stick of ram connected, nothing more, and got red light on cpu again.

I thought that could be a PSU problem (my psu have about 6 years), so i tested with another psu (another old one) and got same error. Both psu was working well before.

I dont know what to do anymore. I already followed a guide that i found here, just didn't reseted the mobo, cause all 3 parts are new.

Sorry for bad English.

Thats a real problem. You sure that i can only boot with a ryzen 7 and thats the problem? I think i can send mobo back and change for a new one. What mobo should i get to boot with a ryzen 5?

What do you recommend?

Thanks again!

no, there is no way, these boards dont have bios flashback on them, as SR-71 Blackbird said, you need an R7 CPU or get in touch with MSI or even the shop you brought it from and tell them you need the bios updating to support your CPU, they should both offer this service for free, if you change the board for another, you just risk facing the same problems with another board.

The answers so far are discouraging. I have the MSI B350M Gaming Pro and the Ryzen 1700 and I have both the CPU and the DRAM lights on so I get nothing to my monitor. I have tried removing the GPU, have tried resetting the CMOS, have tried disconnecting the ram, have tried removing the CPU and putting it back in, . . . nothing has made any difference.

I just got a new mobo and a new error too. I set up the mobo exactly like last time, and when i turn on the mobo, it gets a red light on CPU ez debug, then it goes off and the DRAM ezdebug turns on, same again with VGA led and at last the BOOT led turn on. What this problem could be?

Thats not a problem, thats normal, its checking the CPU (light on) when the cpu light goes off it means its passed, then it checks the ram (light on) when it passes the light goes off, next the VGA and then boot devices.

Hi had the same issue this week with Ryzen 1500X. The only way I can get to the BIOS is by removing one of the 2 Ram stick (leaving one in the first slot). The minute I add the other one the CPU EZ debug light turn on and I can't go further. I updated the bios to v60 and no help so right now only 1 8Gb ripjaw 2133 works...might be a defective ram
