Hey guys,

So I recently bought a new mobo/cpu/ram but I'm having some troubles with my first boot up.

When I turn my pc on it doesnt even reach the bios, I hear four long beeps and then after about 15 seconds it powers down and the cycle continues.

My build:
Mobo: Z170X-gaming 3
Cpu: I5-6500
Ram: HyperX fury 8gb 2600 x2
Gfx: nvida 680ti
Psu: 750w

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, yes I am 100% sure everything is connected correctly, I have checked and double checked.

Sorry if this is the wrong fourm I'm new to this site.

You said you had a sky lake in your original post, Intel 6xxx if you do really have a kaby lake (Intel 7xxx) then yes, that's the problem, your board needs a bios update to support kaby lake, or get a Z270 board.

Beep codes are here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Support/FAQ/816

also, check the pins in the socket are all ok, non bent.

make sure your ram is mounted fully in, the trouble with these boards that only have ram clips on one side, is you have to make sure its fully pushed into the non clip side first before finishing off pushing it into the side with the clip, then once its all in, double check again to make sure both sides are firmly pushed in.

Yes the ram is fully mounted. I looked through the link you sent and I can't seem to find an error code for four long beeps. Other fourms/sites I have researched seem to think it's an error with my ram but I am unsure how to proceed

did you check the pins in the CPU socket, this all relates back to things like ram not working.

After some troubleshooting my computer is starting with no error codes, but it is still not reaching the bios. After doing some digging it seems my kaby Lake cpu might be incompatible with the z170x chipset until a bios update is completed. I have been looking into Q-flash plus as an option to update without a cpu. I have confirmed the z170x-gaming 1 has q-flash, but I can't find any info on the gaming-3. The gaming-1 manual says to use the white USB port on the motherboard but mine only has blue ports with one red.

Does this seem to be my problem? Can I q-flash plus my bios or am I going to have to install a completely different cpu?
