Ethernet Slower than wifi

I recently upgraded from 75 mbps to 150 mbps through Verizon FIOS and I am having issues achieving 150 mbps through Ethernet cable. I ran a speed test with Ethernet connected on my desktop and I only got 94ish mbps, I couldn't run a speed test through WiFi connection because I don't have a WiFi card on my PC, but I used my laptop as a secondary device to test. I ran a speed test on my laptop with Ethernet connect and i received 94ish mbps again, so I ran another test using WiFi connection and I got 150. To solidify that the WiFi is working correctly, I also ran a speed test on my phone which is connected to WiFi and I received 150 mbps. So I'm not really sure what is happening, but I called Verizon and they said it my be my PC and laptop. Also, the Ethernet cables that I used for the test are CAT 5 AND CAT 5E. Thanks for your help.
 
Same bandwidth readings through ethernet on both laptop & desktop? - - then it's unlikely to be either of them that's responsible for this problem. Verizon's logic in saying that it is, well that just doesn't make sense, but I guess it's just an easy explanation to fob you off with rather than them admitting "We don't know".

I would be looking at your networking equipment, mainly the router. It's wireless operation seems okay, but it could still be faulty on the wired side.

I usually try a different router when faced with issues like that.

the telecoms companies do in general like to pass the blame . it is why i suggested tried a different LAN port on the router . i do know that there is an AMD application that limits bandwidth . i will try to find the name of it .. just in case the poster does have this installed on their pc and laptop.

edit: AMD Quick Stream is the name of the program that has been known to affect bandwidth. this may be of no use to the OP but thought i would mention it just in case .

So I switched ports and it seem to work, but at first I didn't think switching the port would work because when I was testing my laptop and desktop, I used two different ports. Thank you for your help, I'll continue to run tests if it ends up dropping.

if it continues in that way then yes i would say so. it is the only thing you have changed . it's not uncommon to get a faulty router and i do hope that it turns out to be the router (not because it means i am right but because it means you have found the problem ). i suggest contacting your ISP (verizon) and explaining that two of the LAN ports on the router are giving you lower speeds via ethernet and that is appears the router is faulty . perhaps they will just send you a new router . (if they are the ones that provide your router) i'm form the UK so i am not fully aware of the way ISP's work over there .
