How do I OC my RAM (Is it worth it?)

Hi,

I am wondering if it is worth messing about with my RAM speeds. I have the X99-A II motherboard with 32gb Vengence DDR4 3000 RAM. I checked my speed and my RAM is only running at 2133mhz instead of the capable 3000mhz.

Is it worth playing about with things to get this working at 3000mhz? How would I go about it, I have no previous experience with OC of any kind.

Solution
enable XMP and done. Although at 4 x 8 stick at 3000Mhz it's likely to be much trickier than that. More RAM sticks, more Gb and quad channels are harder to OC.

If it's anything like my Asus motherboard it will ask you when you enable xmp if you would like to use the all cores enhancment so it will automatically give you a slight overclock to get the ram working.

Thanks, I have enabled XMP and it is now running at 2933mhz on each.

Are there any drawbacks to having done this? I'm assuming more heat will be produced, but other than that?
