Hi. I have built a PC in June 2016. Up till last month everything was fine. Now, I have encountered a problem. My PC takes about 3 minutes to post. This only happens about once a week and my motherboard, an MSI Z170A Gaming M3, reports, through its LEDs, that the VGA has a problem. I have already replaced my GPU, a GTX 1070, with another one, a GTX560Ti, to see if that is the cause, but the issue has happened again.

The rest of my components are:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz 16GB RAM
Enermax Revolution x't II 750W PSU
Intel Core i7 6700K CPU

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Solution
The latest bios is "2016-12-22 Version A.A", do try that one.
Also see that XMP is enabled in the bios for best ram settings.

Thank you for your reply. Since this is an intermittent fault, it is difficult to point to one particular thing. I tried the igp for one bootup, which worked. Right now, I am attempting to use the 560Ti with the second PCIe slot on the motherboard, to rule out the slot being at fault. If the issue still happens, I will try the power supply, as you are suggesting. One interesting thing is that the PC works perfectly once booted, which makes me doubt the PSU being at fault, even though I shall try it anyway, to make sure. I even tried Valley benchmark, and got excellent results for the card. Again, thank you for your help, and I will definitely get back to you after trying the above steps.

Sorry, I forgot to list down that I have already done both of the above. XMP was always enabled, and yesterday before posting, I updated the BIOS. Since then, everything has been working fine, but again, it is an intermittent fault. I'll wait for a week, and get back to you regarding whether or not it happens again. Thank you.

Just a little update on things, as promised. Till now, with the GPU connected in the second slot, everything is working well. Within the next week, I intend to put the GPU back into slot 1, to find whether the BIOS update fixed anything. If not, I think that would mean that my slot is damaged (even though I never touched it since building my PC 9 months prior to this occurring), and I'd have to replace the motherboard, or is there anything I'm leaving out? Thank you for all your help, and will definitely keep you posted. :)

I did many things to my PC, and now, the problem no is no longer occurring. some were coincidental.
These were:

1. Reseating the GPU
2. Upgrading the BIOS (as suggested by Vic 40)
3. Upgrading to the Windows 10 Creators Update
4. Changing BIOS mode to UEFI (through the MBR2GPT tool available in the Creators Update), since I had accidentally previously installed Windows in legacy, since that was the mobo's default setting

Honestly, the most likely solution is the BIOS upgrade. Though, I suggest you follow all of these if possible, to hopefully help in solving the problem.
