Mix 4gb and 2gb ram

I have a 4gb DDR3 ram in my laptop and i have 2gb DDR3 memory stick with the same specs. Can i mix both of them? Also what will be its effect on my laptops gaming performance. I am a casual gamer and have no problem playing in low settings.
Specs:
Intel 4010u :1.7 ghz
Intel hd graphics 4400
Currently 4gb ram
(I know the specs are shitty but i can paly most of my games)

Those HD Graphics are better than my Intel G41 Express Chipset.....

Anyways, you can mix it, just try and place it in the same coloured slot, like 2-4 or 1-3 For motherboards, i'm not 100% If you will void your warranty if you do this, if there are any issues, just refer back to 4gb or memory.
