How Do You Play Multiplayer Games

I never play a single game online but i have wanted to play cod and bf3 how will i play this What are the basic things needed do you need the real game or cracked version.i only download setups it cannot play multiplayer and it wont launch.Is Steam needed.What all other things are needed help me iam a noob

TF2 and L4D2 are both steam games. TF2 is free if you want and still has a good player base. I haven't loaded up L4D2 in a long time to play multiplayer. The MP has some bad flaws including the players on there who will boot you if you don't have 100s (or maybe 1000s if hours by now.) Doesn't matter if all your hours are on the same map and you know the hiding spots. They will check, see you've played the game for 1xx hours and just boot you so you'll probably have an issue playing that one.

COD is on steam, and probably other platforms. Not sure how the game play is.

To play Battlefield 3 you need a prog called origin and a genuine version of bf3. Origin handles all the launching and servers etc.
Call of duty I'm not too sure but someone will be along with more info soon.
