i recently purchased a new power supply and it goes dead.
for first 3 times it restarted when i tried to play games (about 5 mins) and after that its all dead.

i want to know is it really my gpu overclock(highly overclocked / voltage overclock) which made that mess.

a psu with little load that ends dead that easily is a danger for your pc and for you, the thing could end in flames

a decent quality psu is definitively required

a basic evga, corsair, cooler master or seasonic psu will give you more stability, no flames and let you overclock with more peace of mind

Actually you shouldn't go by PSU makers. They all make lower quality PSU for big OEM's that dont use video cards. I suggest going by the tomshardware PSU tier list. There are some new models that are good not on the list but you really need to research those. In the tier list notice that Antec earthwatts are tier 2 which is ok for overclocking and gaming. Dont go below tier 2 with any system that includes a video card.
