Hi all,

I have a 5268AC AT&T router that recently was enabled to broadcast a 5gHz wifi connection. I also upgraded my old pci card in my desktop to a TP-Link AC1300 Archer T6E wireless adapter and installed the new driver. I am running on Windows 10 and have already checked for compatibility with a an 802.11ac connection, which it does.

My issue is that my desktop can identify the new 5gHz network, but cannot connect to it. I can connect to the 2.4gHz connection just fine, and my other devices such as phone and tablets can connect to the 5gHz fine. How can I get my desktop to connect to the 5gHz connection?

Solution
Turn off the security entirely, and see if you can connect without a password.

Also, check to make sure the router is using channels 36-48 or 149-165. Channels 50-144 can interfere with airport doppler weather radar, so the FCC has special rules for devices which use these channels. Most devices simply don't bother and just prevent you from using these channels altogether. A WiFi adapter which blocks these channels can see a WiFi router broadcasting its SSD for these channels, but cannot connect to it.

As far as I know, I don't have a MAC filter, and I changed the wifi passwords myself.
