Hard drive os stopping SSD os

So I have an SSD for storage and that has windows 8 (ik I need to upgrade) but I really needed a hard drive because I ran out of space, so I used a hard drive from an old pc I found lying around but when I started up my pc, it boots up windows vista (what the old pc is running. Does anyone know how to stop this?

You might have the hard drive plugged into a lower-numbered SATA slot than your SSD is. Optimally you would have your SSD plugged into SATA port 1 and the hard-drive on port 2 or higher.
