Trying to turn on backlit keyboard without using function keys

Hi,

I'm trying to solve what I thought was going to be a simple problem for a friend. They have an Acer Aspire V 15 v5-591g-75ke laptop. There is function key on there that illuminates the backlit keyboard (Fn+F9). However, it doesn't seem to be responsive. I checked the BIOS and can't seem to see any configuration settings for it either...All the other function keys work fine. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

there wouldn't be anything in the bios because they already assigned a function key to it which you already mentioned in your post. if powering it and then pulling the battery does not return it to normal then your friend will have to contact acer for support
